One of the key fragrance notes in Lake Balaton is vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides), also known as kusafű in Hungarian. Different varieties of vetiver from various parts of the world differ greatly in aroma. The vetiver from Haiti, used in our Lake Balaton fragrance, is exceptionally pure and ethereal, unlike other vetivers, such as the Javanese variety, which tends to have a smokier and dustier feel. Generally, vetiver can be described as earthy, woody, and green.
